Harry Potter 6 gets direction
By Joshua Tyler Oct 24, 2005, 3:23 GMT
With ‘Goblet of Fire’ nearing release, the series’ producing team is out talking about what’s in store for Harry and his friends once number four is over and done with. They’ve already been filming movie five, but producer David Heyman let fly a little news about the sixth film as well.
At a press junket in London, Heyman revealed that Steve Kloves, who wrote the scripts for the first four ‘Harry Potter’ movies, will direct the sixth movie, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’.
Kloves did not write the script for ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’, because he’s been busy working on his own pet project, ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in Night-Time’, a movie which he is both writing and directing. ‘Half-Blood Prince’ will be Steve’s fourth time in the director’s chair. His directorial debut was the 1989 Jeff Bridges movie ‘The Fabulous Baker Boys’.
In addition to writing ‘Baker Boys’ and the first four ‘Harry Potter’ movies, Steve Kloves is also credited with the Oscar nominated screenplay for ‘Wonder Boys’.
Now that the sixth movie has a director, maybe we’ll find out if the cast is returning. While it seems likely that Radcliffe and his friends will be back in their parts at Hogwarts, all three of the movies’ primary players have frequently talked about calling it quits, maybe after the completion of ‘Harry Potter 5’.
