Having recently met Andy it turns out that 'our friend' who has been for some reason been pretending to be me is now pretending to be Andy. Let's call him/her the Klone for want of a better name. So The AfterGlow what do you want to do about this. Here are some intial thoughts... 1. Ignore him/her. 2. Swear at him/her 3. Stay off the forum for a few weeks and hope the Klone gets a real life and drifts away. 4. Introduce pass words like several other forums. Any thoughts or more ideas The AfterGlow. Tj |

yeah, enough of the dicking around already. differences of opinion are fine, as are bonkers acid-damaged non-sequiteurs, but at the end of the day this has to be a place fans can talk in a congenial kind of environment. So... I can either look into getting one of those 'log in' type forums - or I can just start deleting the more pointless posts as they're made. |

The problem is Hugh that many of the posts just sound like genuine posts from Andy and I etc, so you can't really tell which the Klone is posting? Very sad really isn't it? To be honest I really pity the Klone. Imagine having to do this to get your kicks. Tj |

Prats come and go so I think that (contrary to my more extreme suggestion above) we should just weather this one out until he/she discovers another site or another hobby. If postings are restricted to log-ins/passwords etc. then this might deter 'visitors' who might otherwise make an interesting contribution. I think, however, that the deletion of inappropriate postings would also be useful- Didn't care for the 'an alien' thread for example... |

I hope this doesn't sound petty Hugh but can we not trace the Klone and have his I.P. barred from the forum? I hate to reach this stage but I cannot see an alternative as we are all infected it seems. |

Anyone who really knows me will know that that last technical post was not from me. This person must really not have any self love. Maybe that's why the Klone keeps having to take over other peoples names and personality's. What was that film? Was it From The Cradle To The Grave? "Look in the mirror and what do you see? Someone with a light in thier eye or a shadow in their soul?" ...Ian Mcnabb I'd go for the passwords. This doesn't deter that many visitors on other forums. It won't stop people like this, but it will stop them using your exact name. Tj |

Any ideas what this klone looks like ??? My image is of a fat greasy balding train-spotter with trousers that hang down past his arse. And a preference for sex-acts with small boys. Anyone else getting this picture ??? |

No worries Andy and Tj. The site just needs some security which I'm sure Hugh can sort out. Anyway Clone or Klone, if you think you're hard enough just have a go! (I haven't been impersonated yet and my self esteem has consequently been knocked. Am I not worthy?) Lets play spot the Klone! I'm sure we can spot the bogus postings of some prat who's life is so pathetic that he feels the need to impersonate us. I've looked into this a little closer and fingers crossed we should see a little less of it from now on. Hopefully now we can move on to happier subjects! |
