Does anyone have the complete lyrics of "Late Night Movies All Night Brainstorms"? Just got the cd (from Amazon, it's not that hard, it only took 2 months ;), and the lyrics were not included. Great singer as The Kid is, he is not always that articulate. |

annoyingly, I used to have a word document with these, but I think it went when my hard disc died a couple of years ago... they're included with the vinyl album, I'm not sure why they never made it to the CD... anyone out there gottem? |

I can help you here. I have the vinyl sleeve with the texts to songs. I do not have a scanner, but can arrange for it to be done, send me your E-mail address and be patient !!!!! |

He is extremely articulate, you can take that from me. However I would not call Bob Dylan or Kid "a great singer", but they could both write a damn good text and melody and knew how to deliver it with style !!! |

Brian is right, Kid Strange can articulate extremely well. Even we 'Krauts' do understand him. You can check his new height of mastership in articulation if you download the brand new version of 'Waiting' and even some more at 7recordsmusic.com http://www.7recordsmusic.com |

Well you know, in my opinion is a good singer not specifically defined by the vocal-technical-musical properties of the voice. Bob Dylan and The Kid are great singers in my opinion, because their voice delivers the message in the only way that it should, although I am aware of the fact that Luciano Pavarotti would do it in an entirely different manner. :) As far as the articulate-ness (is that a word?) goes: I try the best I can, I still can't make sense of a lot of the lyrics. And yes: the new version of "Waiting" is approvement in that aspect. |

Hmm, pondering now the definition of articulate.. I'd say Kid's lyrics are articulate in the sense that they're very literate and smart, but something might get lost in the delivery in places. For instance, I never realised what a lot of the words were to the songs on 'sons', until some of the lyrics turned up on the sleeve to the japanese live release. Didn't quite appreciate all that was going on in the song until seeing them in writing. Ditto the lyrics to a lot of Richard Hell stuff, was never sure of all of them till he brought his book out, but seeing them in black and white, it's pretty impressive how smart they are. Without being smart-ass of course. On that subject, as a Clash fan, I never sussed what those ad-libbed words were in Tommy Gun, until papers reported that the police had intercepted someone in a clash tribute act texting them to their singer, and the police went after them, suspecting them of terrorism! I'd quote them here, but I don't want to end up in Paddington Green for my troubles! |

I think I did not use the correct phrase. I was trying to state that I simply could not understand the exact words Richard is singing. "Articulate" in Dutch refers to speaking clearly, as in "not mumbling". |

I am sorry Dutch fan, but thinking a little more about it, then I was also sure that what you meant was : some of the words are not completly understandable, and you are right. For example even though I was there at the birth of the Doctors, then even I do not get all of what he sings on "B movie bedtime" or parts of others without having a look at the text. Now I think we agree !!! |

Great happy families again. Just wanted to say that I think Richard's singing and speaking voice is quite divine. I'm feeling rather moved actually. :o) Tj Sundown |

The first two albums indeed had complete lyrics on the inner sleeve when first released on vinyl. When Sons came out though Hugh, Polydor had given up on the Doctors and were merely fulfilling their three album obligation. I think they were saving money, but there was a mailing address on the sleeve to where you could send a request for the complete lyrics. I am the proud owner of a copy of this and it included a letter from the "Kid". Does anyone else have this as well? It was just a b & w photocopy with a picture or two, but now is rather a collectors item I guess. If anyone would like a copy maybe I could scan it and get it posted on the website? Julian |

Hi Julian it'd be great if you could do a scan of that - if that's possible, can you mail it to me at hugh_gulland@hotmail.com? thanks in anticipation! |

Hugh, Sorry 'bout the slow reponse, but I have now dug out the lyric sheets for SOS and will try and get a friend to scan them next week for you. The front cover by the way is in your gallery as "Sons of survival hand bill", the composite photographs, so you have at least the front page of what was the lyric book originally obtainable from Bryan Morrison music. I've got the SOS words pack Joern. Strangely I was so obsessed with Punk at the time that the power of the album didn't hit me straight away. Or did it? - It's a bloody long time ago isn't it? ;o) Saying that I remember listening to No Limits as we sailed along the Norfolk Broads in 1978. Never understood why the Kid didn't like that song.
