Author Topic:   Voices in my head?

For the last 7 years I've been hearing voices in my head as I fall asleep. When I'm really tired I start to feel like I'm floating and at that point voices start to intrude on my sleep. It's almost like I'm overhearing snippets of converstation although once in a while I will hear my name called quite clearly. When that happens I usually lose the floating feeling and wake up quickly. If anyone has any ideas on what this could be I would appreciate some feedback.Shawn.

This is a lot more common than you might realize. That "twilight" state between sleep and wakefulness is a very peaceful state of mind. It's similar to that state you're in when hypnotized or in meditation. This particular state of mind is very conducive to communication with spirits or living persons through ESP. That tranquil feeling that fills your soul is a bit like pulling up the antenna on the radio. The thought waves can be heard more clearly. How clearly depends on a lot of things including, your level of expertise, your inner peace, your environment, and the desire of the other person to be heard, among other things. One word of caution here, of course. We are warned in scripture not to cast our pearls before swine. Take that bit of advice to heart. Don't tell just everyone about your experiences because those who do not have the level of spirituality you have or who just remain closed-minded will persecute you to no end for your claims of communication beyond the veil. Share your experiences with those who appreciate the spirituality of your experience. I have some things that might be helpful to you on my website. http://www.nursehealer.com/Spirituality.htm Many blessings, Cat =^;^=

The above person who replied to your report of hearing voices seemed to feel that because they were from beyond the veil it was obviously a good thing.A psychic I once met
remarked that she was very selective about what voices she would let into her head. If this phenomenon is annoying you then you ought to firmly request that they go away and stop speaking to you.Not in anger or irritation, but with authority.
The voice that calls you back to yourself when you start floating is very likely looking out for your welfare.Uncontrolled out of body experiences are not good.It would be best for you to train your self to avoid letting it happen, to stop it even before the voice prevents it. The reason I say that is because if it happens alot as you are falling asleep you might be thrown out of your body while completely awake by frightening situations. A woman I know is so fearful of highway overpasses that she leaves her body every time she drives over one.You don't want to get into the habit of reacting to danger like that. This, I think, is why the voice calls you back.
The mystic Emanuelle Swedenborg maintained that most of these voices in the head were caused by peculiar spirits that can get into a person's consciousness by accident and start playing around with the things in there without knowing what they are doing or realizing the effect it's having. Some, which he calls the lower order, enjoy playing around with the cruder energies. These produce abusive voices that torment people and can literally drive them crazy.
The hgher order likes to fool around with finer energies. They produce friendly companion
voices that masquerade as whatever the person harbors in his mind as spiritually good.
I reccomend you ask them all to go away because they aren't what they seem to be, one way or another, and even having the good sounding kind is pretty much an unnessessary distraction from more important issues. I would , however, ask the one who calls you back to stay untill you learn how to avoid accidenly floating out of your body.

I feel pretty stupid.. but I can't sleep because these damn voices wake me up. It's not a lot of chat..it's usually something quite simple..tonight it was somone saying "hello?" I awoke immediately and thought someone had come into my apartment. This isn't the first time I've heard voices, and yes, most of the time I hear them when I'm asleep. but the voice is right in my ear, like they are bending over and speaking directly into my ear. It drives me nuts. Not because it's bothersome, but because I feel like there's something that I should know. That someone is trying to tell me something. Sometimes it's something simple, like "you need to get up now", and I'll wake right up thinking someone is there, and then the phone will ring. Anyhow.. it doesn't feel mystical or anything like that, and I hope I'm not crazy..I don't think I am. lol But, if anyone out there has experienced something like this, I'd appreciate you telling me.

recently i've paid more attention to these weird sounds i hear while drifting to sleep. i'm aware there are 'hypnagogic' sounds which accompany the hypnagogic state, which is that state between wakefulness and sleeping when the beta waves slow down, and geometric patterns and lights begin to appear. But upon listening more 'intently' by remaining in a concentrating state while drifting off, it seemed like alot of the noises were 'radio-like', sometimes it would sound like a commercial, sometimes like 'talk radio', and sometimes music. A strange thing i noted is that all the noises were about a half second or so long. I'm pretty sure these are simply 'hypnagogic' half dreamed sounds, but i wouldn't be surprised if, when the brainwaves reach more of a theta or alpha level, that you could actually pick up certain frequencies from the air and hear them. Who knows, maybe the voices of 'spirits' reside on one of these special frequencies undetectable normally. Of course a freq like that has never been discovered, but EVP recordings seem to catch some pretty weird stuff. Anyway, maybe you could consider that some of these drifting off 'voices' are simply half-dreamed, and therefore imagined. I'll also get a weird voice effect when a fan is humming in the background and i'm going to sleep. It will sound like a radio is on with eerily accurate sounding human murmuring. Usually in this kind of background sound i can also 'will' a familiar song to sort of become 'audible' as i think about it. anyway, just thought of it after reading these few posts, hope it helps.

I have installed Fedora Core on a Toshiba Satellite Pro4600 laptop recently I have experienced a rather mysterious problem if I touch anything specially the keyboard or mouse I see this stuff “67yujhnmyyy” straight away some time it won’t stop for while like this 67yujhnmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy it look as if someone was typing something, I just watch in amusement. Be it in a console or while surfing using mozilla or any browser
Any help appreciated!
I had this similar experience a couple of years a go. It happened while I was sleeping I can hear this sound for about 1 second or less and its usually deep and scary. I tell very few people as I really keep getting all sort of weird dream i.e. if I told my self that tonight I’m gone see something peculiar in my dream then more or less about 80.% it will happen and if said I don't want to dream about this then it won't happen. Sometime I even find it hard to explain it to myself, in many occasions I feel like there’s a presence "is it true that the sprit can feel something or I’m just being paranoid. I’m religious person and I usually tell myself this is just something that I shouldn’t worry about, but as human being we like to know about the known which make me feel a bit nervous. I remember this occasion while I was sleeping and all the sudden something came over me it seems like bird I can hear the sound of the wing and I swear the cool air I never experienced anything like that air in my life it was cold yet very nice I just don’t know how to explain it. There were many time when I felt like something was lifting me up in the cloud and then they let go of me damn this thing feel great but scary. I believe there’s something greater than us human out there but just don’t know what is it like the rest of us who don’t know it yet?
Thanks
P.S I know I sound weird but hey good weird J

this is nice, a message board; i thought i was the only one to have this experience, well for along time ive had these voices when drifting off to sleep....ive heard these voices for years, it doesnt happen all the time, but just laterly it has, the other night got into bed closed my eyes afew seconds later....i could hear two woman talking to each other..and again the next night, just like one of the msgs above..it was like i was over hearing a conversation....then next few nights i goto sleep and nothing then one night it will start up again....one time for a while there was agroup of people all talking at the same time....it was so noisy it was driving me nuts cause i knew the sounds were in my head...then this one voice, big gob i think of him...SHOUTS so LOUD over the group his voice travels through my body and THAT does WAKE me right up...after that happens i usually tell them all to shut up as i want to goto sleep...
crazy stuff...
ive experienced psychic stuff before so i put it down to hearing spirtiual voices rather than going crazy..
but i read once you should acknowledge their presence but when big gob shouts that loud i thought id break the code and shout back at them in my mind..
it worked, but could have been a coincidence.

I've experienced voices at times when I'm particularly tired, but I think that they are generally just the creations of an over-active imagination being intensified by heightened vulnerability due to the current physical tiredness. Sure, there might be spirits having their arguments in your bedroom, but be sure that you don't just jump to conclusions.

It's nice to read that someone else hears voices and music in a fan. I have heard this my whole life. At night I need a fan to sleep to block out car noises, etc... When I hear voices, it usually sounds like a d.j. talking. I have always just thought that the fan was producing a radio frequency, is that possible? Anyone else hear music/voices in fans?
Amanda posted 1/4/05 7:46 AM     Click here to send email to Amanda
I have heard music and voices in fans my whole life. Always thought it was a radio frequency the fan was producing, but no one else around me seems to hear it. Is it possible that a fan could produce such a frequency? or is it a 'paranormal' experience? I feel a strong awareness of the spirit world, but choose to ignore it most of the time because I have a hard enough time functioning in the 'real world' as it is. I also believe that our own spirits can speak to us call out our human names when we need to 'wake up' or to be kept out of spiritual danger. I think it is important not to get too involved with the spirit world unless Divinely guided - did anyone see the movie 'Mothman?' Spirits are too much like fleshy people, they like to play too many games and cause confusion with just enough truth to get our attention, but not enough to really do anything with except drive us crazy trying to figure it out.

I had no idea so many other people had this experience!! I have heard the music/voices in the very same ways as have been described above for most of my life. I discovered this "ability" when I was sixteen - going on 35 now.
It rarely occurs on its own, but I find that whenever I am having trouble falling asleep I can "lower" myself into a state where I can hear the noise .. just like a radio like everyone has said... slowly but surely something will come into focus. Usually I fall asleep right after I hear one clear sentence or word. Is anyone else able to 'lower' themselves? - I'm using that word for lack of better language to describe the feeling of mentally calming, or shifting down in gears
The only thing I remember specifically hearing were two men talking, one of them said, "We have to tell him."
The fan thing - no I've never heard music or voices in fans. Very intriguing though.

The house that I currently live in with my wife is about 60 years old, but has no strange history to my knowledge. I say this because when we first moved in we had no central air and so we would run one of those large square floor fans to circulate some air. I had, from the very first night heard what sounded like a room full of people talking while the fan was running. I never mentioned this to my wife (figured she would think me crazy, heh), but I continued to hear this drone of talking, but never any particulars of the conversations. Anyways, one night after listening for about 10 minutes I asked my wife if she heard anything. To this she replied "You mean the voices? Is that your radio or something?" This really threw me because I realized I was not as nutty as I first thought. When I let her know I had no radio playing she did get a bit scared/concerned and asked me to buy a different fan :) We still hear the voices in the new fan, but now that we've got central AC we dont run a fan as often so I don't know if it is as strong as a few years ago. I hope this will help anyone else with this same situation. My wife and I are far from crazy and with the fact that she heard the same thing without any discussion of the subject, I have to think there is something to it. Please feel free to email me if the fan somehow does generate a radio signal, but I'd be very supprised if thta's the answer since it would be amazing to have it "tuned" to an actual station and also be a show that consists of a lot of people jabebring :)
Best Regards,
Brian

Steelflight - my thoughts exactly! Sometimes when I'm trying to fall asleep, I think my son has his radio too loud in the basement so I jump up to tell him to turn it down but as soon as I'm away from the fan, I don't hear it anymore. It seems to keep getting louder & I can't pick out a certain song that it is (but like you said, I can will myself to think it's a certain one) - A radio is the closest thing I could compare it to. Sometimes it's almost like if you were switching stations & stuck on 2 different ones. Your description was perfect. I wish someone had some sort of explanation....??

These voices in the fans are definately real, and I would advise you not to try to listen to it.. at first it only sounds like the neighbour's t.v. but as you listen more closely to make out what is being said you're not going to like what you find.. I would like to say that it is only some sort of interference, but having a strong background in computer technology I decided one day to record and amplify the sounds, and what I found scared me silly for quite awhile.. I would have loved to turn this over to the EVP deptartment as well but it is definately human made. It is definately comforting to know we're not alone in hearing it, but again I'm posting this as a warning that you won't like what they say. In fact, it is too vile to even write. I have a couple solid hours of the recordings, and they've gone straight to the authorities. Guesses, anyone, on what we have here?

Can you give any example of what they said? Even if you have to "edit" it? I was sitting in my living room last night reading, and it was pretty hot in the house, so I turned on the box fan that sits in the floor. I heard noises that sort of sounded like whispering or voices. I stopped reading and focused in a little. One voice came through clearer than the others. It sounded like a female voice, but was still to mumbly to really understand the words. The creepy thing was that when the voice seemed to come into focus a little more, or came out a little louder, my dog looked up and around like she heard it too. I was pretty freaked out. I ended up turning the fan off not long after that. I know it wasn't my imagination, but I would like to know what you heard them say.

I'm italian so sorry for any mistakes..I experience that situation sometimes..when I'm in an hypnagogic state between wakefulness and sleeping I can hear voices like dj talking or discussion between some people. I discovered that this could be the consequence of a serious physical problem. It can be caused by "amalgam" a mixture of metals such as mercury , zinc, silver , lead palladium that dentists use to put in our theets when they fill them. This produces a very dangerous contamination to our body responsible also for many phisical troubles. It's very important to remove this teeth stopping so to avoid damages to our health. Dr Huggins in USA does it properly .Unfortunately nobody in Italie is able to do it.JUst for your information..nothing mysterious, nothing paranormal ..responsible is what dentist put in our mouthes..Hope this help you

i actually hear different genras of music and i can
hear some of the words. sometimes i write them
down and sometimes i even sing into a handheld
recorder. it's scary that i am hearing so clearly a
song that i've never heard before and it seems to
go on and on like it's a never ending song. tonight i
heard country music and last night punk rock. there
is no explanation as there are no radios or tvs on in
the house and i've even gone outside to see if it's
coming from there. i've heard music and people
talking since i was little. it seems to follow me
everywhere i go. i am fascinated by it. it doesn't
bother me a bit. i'm a singer and i've actuallly
thought of going over my old audio tapes of
singing these mysterious songs and writing songs. i
also sleep with a fan but i hear them without fans
too. i've also experience a voice yelling in my ear a
few times. once i heard my name in a loud wisper,
in a man's voice, and it woke me up. i got spooked
because it was so distince and real. so, it's nice to
know there are others. and for the lady who posted
the crap about being poisoned by metals, i don't
believe that because i hear this no matter where i
move, fan or no fan, and i've lived in many different
apts and houses. she obviously hasn't experienced
this phenomenon. the music is so real and it
sounds in tune and perfect with a steady beat. so,
anyway, that's my story! oh also sometimes i hear
songs that i know too. also, i audibly hear them,
not in my head, it's faint but pretty clear. i can hear
guitars drums the whole nine yards. i wonder what
this means as far as spirits go? also, to the one who
posted something about cleaning up her recording,
how can i do that, cuz i have some evp that are
really scratchy of a little girl telling me her name
when asked, then a man saying i don't really mind.
don't you? i didn't ask a question that time. also a
woman's voice said her name was steve. the little
girl said, i just need you to help me. i asked her
what happened and she said i don't know i fell
down the stairs, i think she said it jokingly. she
giggles twice in the audio, the first is soft and the
second is loud and can be heard clearly. i would try
to figure out how to put it up online, but i have a
little crappy memorex recorded that is digital, no
tape, and no plugs for downloading to my
computer. any suggestions? you know how taps
does, they clean it up the little graph thing goes up
when a spirit speaks? anyone who has any
suggestions, please email me at
