My great grandfather, Samuel Jeffries Boal, came to New York in 1842. My dad went to Ireland in 1937 and located relatives in Clandeboye near Bangor. His mother, Agnes Jeffries Boal, came to New York in 1846. Looking for information on his father who died before 1850.

I can trace my family back to Rasharkin County, Antrim also. My gg grandfather was called Robert Boal. He was married in 1877 to an Elizabeth McCullough in . His father was a farmer called John. No mothers name was registered. His son, James, my g grandfather moved to Scotland. I wonder whether there is a connection. I know when James got married in 1909 he was a farmer at Drumcon, Rasharkin.

We have traced our family back to 51 Craigs Townland in Antrim and another family headed by a Robert Boal lived in 65 Craigs Townland at the same time would appear to be brothers by the name. These appear on the 1851 census,

I also found this. This couldn't be my Robert Boal, he would be far too old. Perhaps related to John. I think my Robert Boal could have been born in Co.Down. The only problem is I have found two Robert Boals with father named John around 1848, neither giving a mothers name. John, Robert and James were farmers according to marriage records. Do you have a name to your John Boal?

My great great grandfather was Isaac Boal. He lived in Pa. possibly Carniege. He and his brother John had a rug factory somewhere in Pa. I still have my great great grandmother's small prayer book from 1853. I had newspaper clippings of his passing & a few photos but they were unfortunately destroyed a few years ago.
