My Mother used to live with her parents at Hillside Farm Barton which stands at the rear of the Hall next to Barton Brook - now owned by Barton Grange. She told us of the many occasions during the War when the family used to shelter under their beds on hearing the sound of German Night Bombers. These Bombers flew up the line path of the Brook on moonlit nights trying to find and bomb Barton Hall. Thankfully for Barton Hall and everyone else in the area they never succeeded.
