Hi Everyone, I've recently became interested in this breed, but have some questions about the shedding factor. Do they shed a litte, alot, at all? I recently held a papillon puppy about 3 1/2 months old for an hour or so and there was no shedding from it. But I have read online and it seems this breed does shed. Can anyone/everyone please weigh in on your experience as I would love to own one! Thank you! |

My two year old Papillon sheds quite a bit, and always has. A friend of mine has one and hers only sheds a little bit. But they do shed. They are great little dogs and I think you would enjoy them! |

My female sheds more then my male. Yes they do shed. More during spring and fall when they throw their coats for the seasons. My cats shed more then my dogs. |

Mine sheds very little. It seems to be dog specific not breed specific. But you should brush them anyway and if you do that, you will minimize the shedding. I use a regular brush and not the spiky normal dog brush. Mine does not have much undercoat, which is the part that tends to shed the most. |

Papillons are notorious shedders! In order to minimize this you should brush every day and make sure they get Omega fatty acids, oils and fatty type meats. Linatone makes a super product to help cut down on shedding called Shed Relief. Also don't bathe the Pap too often. They have a wonderfully clean smell naturally and can go months without a bath unless they get into something dirty or stinky. |

Wow..this shedding issue is the same here as throughout the web. Some say hardly at all, others say notorious shedders. I think the poster who said it was dog specific hit it right on the head. I'm rescuing a Pap mix at the pound tomorrow (he has to be nutered first) so I'm trying to learn as much as I can before then. I hope my new forever friend will be one of the not very much shedders and not one of the notorious shedders. |

I have a 2 year old Papillon and she sheds quite a bit. Not in clumps though. Papillons don't need much grooming but if you do brush them once a day, it surely helps with the shedding problem. Sad but the shedding is the only complaint you would have. http://www.trainpetdog.com/Papillon/about-papillon.html Papillon training |
