I am wondering how large a Pap can get? I was to believe they are about 8-10 lbs but mine is already over 15 lbs. Any input would be welcome. |

Marco is only 4months old and at a whopping 3lbs the vet thought maybe he might make it to 6lbs. He is a "pet quality" from a Breeder that is mostly interested in showing. I was also interested in how the "standard" size is reached. His parents where between 6 and 8lbs. The breeder felt he would be somewhere in between those weights which make since. |

15 lbs seems to be a bit heavy for a pap, but your best bet is to check with your vet. It could be your dog is overweight due to eating or some other medical problem. AKC standard only mentions height - over 12 inches is a fault. Generally paps are between 7 to 10 lbs, but they can get to 14 to 16 pounds from what I have read. Mine is on the tall end of the scale and is about 9 lbs, but she always looks a bit underfed to me even though she is not. |

My papillon is also over 15 lbs. He is a picky eater and very active so he isn't overweight at all. The vet says he is very healthy, but I think he just has long legs....lol. It seems the size varies greatly. His mom was 10 lbs and dad was 8 lbs. |

Yes, it is true that Papillons are about 8-10 lbs for both males and females. But that is just the average weight. So it can be acceptable if there are Paps more than that weight. http://www.trainpetdog.com/Papillon/about-papillon.html Papillon training |
