Hi Folks,
I am considering to experiment with a number of the modern Synthetic Wing materials available on the market
Perfect Cut wings - Rocky Mountain
Etha Wing
MFC Wing material
Hi-Vis
Z-Lon
Shimazaki Airthru
Betts Zing
etc etc
My intention is to tie Mayflies size 10's (Ephemera Danica , Drake imitations)
Are these any good? ,will these all cause leader twist , are these preferable to more conventional methods ie Hair , Polyyarn & feather?
Anyone have experience with these wings?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Wacker07Plunkett

Plunkett,
I have used a few of those materials, including the airthrough, hi-vis, and others. All will cause a bit of twist. In his book, Mayflies Top to Bottom, Shane Stalcup says to tie wings back at an angle- I have tried this, and it does help. Anything will give some twist, just don't use too small a tippet! Hope this helps.
