I just read the messages regarding the lack of health care for Inmates and also someone has finally taken a look at UTMB to see the waste of funds and the abuse they dish out and call it health care. My son has been the recipient of some of this health care?? or should I say non-health care. He has been x-rayed 8 times in the last year and has yet to see a doctor. But I would venture to say his record probably indicates he has been seen by a doctor. You can obtain the medical records for your loved one with a signed letter if you have POA and get the records. I would suggest each of you with someone in TDCJ obtain all the medical records of your loved one and do so now. This abuse and mistreatment has to stop and stop now. We have the attention, finally of the Statesman and Houston Chronicle and now is the time to write those letters to your State Senators and Representatives, and especially to Gov. Perry and Lt. Gov. Dewhurst. Send the pictures of the spider bite and your own story of how your loved one has been treated. We as a group now have the attention of the news and our government, so let's go after them!! |

Having worked security at UTMB for more than 15yrs I can tell you that offenders receive as good, if not better, medical treatment as any other citizen. In fact the medical treatment they receive is far better than what most citizens receive. What is disturbing is when TDCJ sends a death row offender to UTMB for some non life threatening treatment just before they send them to Huntsville and execute them. To me, that is a total waste of tax payer money. 20yrs ago I might believe an offender complaining of inadequate medical care. But, not anymore. TDCJ does an excellent job of providing medical to offenders when it's needed. |

And where do you live? You work for them or did and have seen the lack of care and the for lack of a better word bizzare care received by Inmates. If the health care you receive is as back as the health care Inmates receive, you would be complaining and would change your doctors, etc. So, don't go there!! |

If you think the health care was so good, why did you leave? The health care stinks and if you did your research you would find that Inmates have been transferred to UTMB for surgical procedures and were to have stayed there for several days but sent back to their units as soon as they awoke from sedation without instructions given on how to care for their wound. You did not say what your capacity was, but I would guess you do not have a license number after your name!!! |

Well apparently you have no knowledge of the medical care as you state TDCJ provides great medical care. TECJ DOES NOT provide any medical care to the inmates. The medical care is contracted out to 2 universities Texas Tech which provides decent care. The other being UTMB and UTMB is the problem. Austin Statesman did an article awhile ago titled "Sick In Secret" reguarding UTMB -read it. http://texasprison.250free.com |
