I have MVP & I've been having alot of symptoms lately from it that have seemed to have gotten worse. Shortness of breath, panic attacks, chest pain. I went to the doctor and they said my heart is perfectly fine I just have MVP. I'm on a beta blocker now which helps, but my heart still hearts. I'm not drinking caffeine anymore. Does anyone have the same problems like me with the pain? It really scare me, but the doctor says not to worry. I've heard magnesium can help relieve some of the symptoms. Has anybody tried this before? Is there a change in my diet that works for you that I could try?

What a relief to see your post today. I am sorry to say that I have not the mag, but I was about to go crzy thinking maybe it was time to go back to the doc, something else must be wrong. Seeing that there is someone out there going through the exact same thing was comforting. I was diag with mvp when I was like 14 or so and am 35 now. I have always had symptoms with the chest pain the dominant sypmtom. About 10 years ago I went to a cardiologist because it was just hurting everyday all day long - scary. The did an echo and said I had a very mild prolapse but all was fine. They said they didn't know why some had more symptoms than others. I do pretty good but it seems to come in episodes, you know feeling fine for what seems like a long time and then for no ryhme or reason, I am just hurting constantly for days. Scary hurting. I have cut out almost all caffine, I don't do hard physical activites, but I am active and at a healthy weight. Again I feel like there is no ryhme or reason for why it acts up but I do know I feel like I am going to lose it some days. And until just a few months ago I had no idea that anxiety was associated with it. I have always be a worrysome person and finding that out made me feel -wow-kinda thankful to know i wasn't crazy. If you try the mag let me know how it does. I am open to try it if it helps.

hi I don't know is just me or what. sometimes when I sleep I get pins and needles in my arm especially in the left arms and sometimes it feels numb. I know its because my blood is not sirculating properly. but does that happen to any of you guys?

Retha and Jen - could these pains be at all correlated with stress or overwork? My pains are very mild, but they along with each of my other symptoms, are at their worst when I'm not sleeping good, stressed, or just doing too much. They can stay in this state for a long time even after the stressor has left.Zee - I get that ALL THE TIME! Sometimes, I can't sleep in my favorite position because that will end up happening. All my doctor said was to clench whatever muscle is in the area really hard for a few seconds, then release and repeat. It forces blood into that region of your body. It doesn't work great, but it's something to try!
