Hi Everyone, I am not really new to MVP, as I was diagnosed about 9 years ago. At that time, it didn't seem to affect me much. Over the last several years however, I am finding that it is really limiting my activities. I am 38 and slim. I used to play soccer and love(d) running. Now I always feel so light-headed and exhausted that the thought of jogging is unbearable. If I take a warm shower, lift something heavy, or do anything active (God-forbid I have sex), then I get so light-headed and tired I am incapacitated for hours and feel bad for days. I don't get the issue standing up like many, but I do get heart flutters and hard pounding often. I can honestly say that I can feel my heart beating for most of the day and it's something I think about ALL the time. It used to be that I would feel great most of the time and have bad days.... Now I feel terrible most days and will have an hour or 2 here and there that I feel so-so (at best). I drink a lot of water, but I'm going to try and drink more. I recently had a couple of drinks that had coke in it and BAD IDEA! I try to stay away from caffeine, but will be making a stronger effort to cut it out completely.... Any other suggestions? I read that a higher salt intake might help too. I'm desperate : / I want to run and exercise again and be happy. Please help!!

How bad does it have to get before you can get surgery to correct the problem? I've wondered about this. I am (or was) into competitive amature tennis. I can't take playing in hot weather anymore... I get so gassed. It's a drag thinking that my condition will just get worse and the remaining good years I have left in life will be spent in a downward spiral. So again, what does it take to get something done surgically about the problem?

hi I also have the same problem. I use to have like three bad days and feel ok for a week and it use to continue like that. But the past three weeks I 'll have a few hours in a day when I feel fine. I'm scared that I could be that my leak is getting worse or something. I had a echo five months ago and my cardiologist said I have a very small leak and that I have a strong heart. he put me on atenolol 25mg.which is helping me but not completely.could be my stress levels is high.don't know what to do.
