Do any of TLP books here have plans for a human Zig Zag? I am looking into doing some customized stage props, and a Zig Zag would definately fit in that category.. Tables and trunks are fine, but this seems that it would be fun and challenging to build (except for the blades Thanks, Paul |

I think the zigzag illusion was invented by Robert Harbin after most of the books on this site were written. Besides, Harbin owned the rights to the illusion. There may be an illusion of "splitting a woman into thirds" in one of the books on this site, but I doubt that it is similar to the zigzag. The nice thing about this effect is that it can be performed virtually surrounded. I believe Abbotts magic Manufacturing Co. in Colon sells workshop plans to this effect. http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/ShowMainServlet/showid-5422/ Remember the action/adventure TV series of the '70s, "The Magician?" |

The Zig Zag was indeed invented by Robert Harbin and the plans are to be found in his book. In fact I believe it is true that only people who have bought his book may make one and then only for personal use. I believe this means that the majority out there are pirated unlicenced versions. You are 100% correct Mr. Gordon! But since when has the use of pirated, unauthorized devices ever stop the majority of magicians? Sure, we all complain about it and say it's "wrong" but when it comes down to action and putting it where our words rests... who does it? If guys weren't buying the knock offs certain companies in our world wouldn't exist. It's that simple and that plain, that there's a heck of a lot of liars out there using non-sanctioned systems. (May the gods help those using a knock of of Shadow Vision or any of the other effects I've worked on over the years.) BTW... Shadow Vision is the Zig Zag of the 21st century. Far more visible (and a lot more complicated!) But hey, for $15,000.00 you too can have a bit of "cutting edge magic" in your life... Best of luck! |
