I am a 21 year old male who noticed extreme sudden hair loss at the end of October. I was losing like up to 500 hairs a day, hands covered in the shower, sink, etc. i had a bout with montezumas revenge in late august that lasted an entire month causing a fever, vomitting, loose stools, etc for a month straight before it finally was treated with over the counter medication. i saw 2 professional dermatologists and they diagnosed me with te and told me not to worry; understandable, i have done all the reading, it made sense. the problem is i am on my 4th month now and the hair shedding is a ton less, like i may notice 100 but that is still more then i ever noticed before and i am worried because my hair line looks damaged, like short hair along it in some places and along the temples super thinning areas where when i gel my hair up wet like i always do you can see scalp all along the front. should i concede that i have aa along with this te and all this has done is accelerated it?? i am so scared; the only baldness that runs on either side at any age is a cousain and a 2nd cousain on my mom's side who balded rapidly at a young age. is it possible that my te may just be running it's course and the front will thicken back up or should i say because the rest is noticeably thicker even though thinner then usual that aa has begun in the frontal/temple region? everything i read seems to point to aa if indeed that front has thinned; my question to you is can it thin and come back when the te has completely run through my system? thank you.
