The 1st MD eastern shore is a different unit from us with a similar name, so I know very little about them. Their big claim to fame is being the opposite end of the Union line at Gettysburg from the 20th Maine. The 1st Eastern shore faced off against the rebel Marylanders in the battle. During the fight the 2 opposing flag bearers were shot down. They were cousins. Interestingly as a side note, the unit was composed of slave owners that remained pro-union. You can imagine the complete shock of the anti-slavery New Englanders as they saw the 1st marching up in blue uniforms with slaves following behind... I ran into a guy online who is researching Eastern shore units, Joe Ager <joe@thecarstoreonline.com>, you might want to contact him.
