Was wondering what time of year does the smallmouth fishing heat up on Cumberland? I would imagine it all depends on water temp? I normally get to make 2 trips a year, one in late April/Early May and one at end of Oct. Have reasonably good success drifting shiners, casting Chompers, and occassionally deep diving cranks. Anybody have any tips? P.S. Also a big thanks to LCCS. Been going there for 25 years. They have thebest live bait, breakfasts and service! |

Well depends on what way you like to fish. If you fish the Float and Fly the time is now. Good fishing for smallmouth is a very inexact science. I like to go in April and fish the incoming water and water fall areas with chartreuse spinners and crankbaits in slightly stained water.. I prefer the float and fly though. I do better and it is very easy to fish. If you need a lesson contact Bob Coan he fishes Dale Hollow but would be happy to show you the technique.Jim D |
