Was wondering what time of year does the smallmouth fishing heat up on Cumberland? I would imagine it all depends on water temp? I normally get to make 2 trips a year, one in late April/Early May and one at end of Oct. Have reasonably good success drifting shiners, casting Chompers, and occassionally deep diving cranks. Anybody have any tips? P.S. Also a big thanks to LCCS. Been going there for 25 years. They have thebest live bait, breakfasts and service!

Well depends on what way you like to fish. If you fish the Float and Fly the time is now. Good fishing for smallmouth is a very inexact science. I like to go in April and fish the incoming water and water fall areas with chartreuse spinners and crankbaits in slightly stained water.. I prefer the float and fly though. I do better and it is very easy to fish. If you need a lesson contact Bob Coan he fishes Dale Hollow but would be happy to show you the technique.Jim D
