The Chief Administrative Officer of the County of Los Angeles County has recommended the closure of the Castaic Lake State Recreational Area or its return to the control of the state. The State of California, Parks and Recreation, has stated that they will be in no position to take over this facility's operation, and may be forced to close it if the County pulls out. This action will have a far reaching impact not only to the recreational users of the facility, but also to businesses, local tax revenue and homeowners.
