The Celts were a people who dominated most of Europe long ago. They ruled a mighty empire for a while. The Romans, and then Germanic peoples, conquered them; then, pushed them further and further west and north so that now they are mostly in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Brittany and Cornwall. Many immigrated to the US and Australia also. An interesting website is www.tylwythteg.com/celtic.html What we know of the Celts comes from Roman and Greek writings, archaelogy and historical records. Are you of Celtic descent? I am... I think Peter N. Williams should write a book on the Celts. He did such a fine job with his book on the history of Wales. |
