For all Utah hunters, this is the thread to converse about your hunt. Talk about the parks, the artwork, the great desert tortoise. Feel free to leave comments about the hunt in general, give me ideas to make future hunts even better. If have a specific question to ask, to report found art, or send pictures of your hunting, me please email me at: william.hessian@gmail.com |

Is this going to be posted as a cache hunt with coordinates? |
| william hessian |
posted 5/20/08 0:30 AM
thanks for the message D. Sweet All of my official art as treasure art hunts will not have geocach coordinates....however, each city I am visiting I will be hiding some of my miniature artwork in existing caches, and possibly creating a few geocacheart galleries. You should definately set down your GPS to take part in my miniature art hunt! And then once it is over with, or possibly during, check out my geocache profile and see if I have created any geocache art treasure in SLC. |

Will the art be hidden only in parks in Salt Lake City, or by SLC do you mean parks throughout the whole valley? And will small, neighborhood "pocket parks" be included, or just the bigger ones? (We're psyched!) |

I will consider all park in salt lake city. i do tend to try to make sure to hit the biggest parks, but i also like to include a few smaller ones to make it interesting. especially unique little parks. i cant wait to get there! currently the portland hunt is on, and its going GREAT! |

Regarding the painting of your fabled bearded bunnies and your mini tortoise art - which came first, the tortoise or the hare? Please reply Aesop (ASAP)! |

in terms of which came first the turtle win out by a 'hare'. Although it was a shell of a good race. some important art hunt updates will be made in the next 24 hours, check back soon! The hunt is nearly here |

Doggone it - I thought this hunt was taking place in Lake City - the birthplace of waterskiing - in MINNESOTA! No salt in that lake, just a bunch of crappy fish, and a couple of Winona State dudes. Guess I better cancel my hotel reservation. Gonna make it to one of these hunts yet. Where is the NEXT one? |

no not lake city, although that would be a fun place to do a hunt. i do not have a time and place scheduled for my next art hunt. but i am pretty sure it will be in the minnesota area. how about a road trip to Utah? find yourself a turtle. |

sorry for the confusion on dates. the parks where we will be painting will be listed right now, and the actual photo clues will be ready for you at sunrise on Saturday (tomorrow)! Good luck to you all! All updates and info will be posted here on the message board, and some bonus clues may be posted periodically during the later hours of each day depending on the success of early hunters. by the way, umbrella was simply misspelled by me. |

keep in mind this first batch of clues is the HARD clues and are meant to be very challenging. The second batch of clues Sunday morning will be far more revealing. Looking forward to meeting some treasure hunters at our art in the parks, and don't forget to send in pictures of yourself on the hunt for art. The pictures will be added to the website! |

I walked around Fairmont, Sugarhouse and Liberty. I hadn't been to any of them in such a long time and they all brought back such memories. I wasn't too disappointed in my lack of success since I enjoyed being in the parks so much. http://www.xmission.com/~cnomann Visual Poetry |

Billy, What happens if someone randomly finds your art? Is there instructions on the turtle about posting their find? Having fun with the hunt, been to three parks, no luck spotting the turtles so far. |
| williamhessian |
posted 7/26/08 7:25 PM
on the back of each turtle there is a small tag that says "PEEL" when peeled, it is a long skinny fortune cookie style note, explaining what you have a found and what to do to report the found artwork. the only real issue would be if the random finder did not have, or know anyone with internet access. |

jantzie---yeah, we interrupted them too. The funny thing is they were literally sitting 5 feet from the painting, looking right at it, and hadn't picked it up. We hit 6 parks in all today: Olympus Cove, Canyon Rim, Tanner, Popperton, Memory and City Creek. Only saw the one painting. Will continue looking tomorrow with the easier clues. It was a great day today. |

I looked at Sugar House, Fairmont, Liberty, Herman Franks's, Jordan, City Creek, and Memory Grove, and didn't find anything. I obviously didn't look at quite enough rocks at Sugar House-- I was down along the creek mostly, not up in the flower beds. Tomorrow I'll probably have to hit Liberty again plus some new ones. I wasn't able to focus my search very much -- with the hard clues I could only narrow it down to trees, rocks, concrete, and walls. ;) |

clue #2 and bonus #12 were of the same thing...we found the exact tree (branch for branch in #12) with the circular art piece on the pole in the background. Climbed up a few branches, came face to face with the exact scene in #2 (you can see in the background poles...those are other art-works on posts). There were the bands around the branch that matched exactly and a very clear piece of tape left right where the turtle is in the photo. It was certainly there, and now is certainly gone. |
