I know for sure that there were Bentz in Central Ohio. This line came from John Bentz I believe. Looking at this web site has been intersting because my ancestors were devout Catholics. I understand that my great grandfather John married Anna Grant (not sure about this last name) However, the understanding was that she was Irish hence my great uncles name Frances Xaviar, et al. There were two different Bentz families here in Columbus so I'm not sure if any of us are related to the lines on this site. Anyway, having little family history to go on I find this site intersting.

My grandmother was an Ohio Bentz. Her name was Elizabeth. She was married to William Plagemann. When I was small they lived in Eastlake, Ohio, but grandma was from Springfield, Ohio I believe. Two points of interest: "Nonnie" was a Roman Catholic. Secondly, her first son, William Plagemann wrote under the name of Bentz Plagemann. His book "An American Past" (I think that is the name.) talks about his Bentz ancestory. You can find his books under his name. He wrote quite a few books. He died about 10 years ago. I am the daughter of Edward Plageman who was the second son. Hope to hear back from you. I am just beginning to trace some family roots. pat
